What is agriculture?
Agriculture is a general term for everything that goes into growing crops and raising animals, providing food and things that people can use for enjoyment. Agriculture, which includes cultivating land and raising livestock, is a branch of agriculture, which includes plant science.
People all over the world have been farming for thousands of years. Today, thanks to modern agricultural innovations and plant science technology, Canada has been able to produce some of the highest quality crops in the world, giving us global competitiveness.
How do you become a farmer?
There are different ways to get into farming. The most obvious way is that you will be born into it. Almost all – 98% – of farms in Canada are still family, and wisdom is passed from generation to generation and children eventually take over the work of their parents. But anyone can become a farmer if they have the passion and desire to do it and have enough money. You will need some level of agricultural experience and understanding of agricultural production. You can study a college or university course such as agronomy, agricultural science, plant science, or business to help you succeed.
Importance of agricultural production
You will remember that we listed the importance of agriculture earlier and revealed the importance of agriculture to human life, especially in providing food and resources for a growing population and industry.
Now, we want to examine, in detail, the Nigerian economy in terms of animal and crop production – and the linkages between fish and forests, for agricultural development. A large amount of food is obtained from agriculture, namely rice, corn, rice, cassava, vegetables, fruits, milk, eggs, meat, etc. 2. Employment opportunities: About 80% of Nigerians work in the agricultural sector and provide employment opportunities for all types of jobs. 7. Rural development: Governments often focus on rural agriculture as an area for infrastructure development. To cope with the increase in commercial and agricultural activities in these areas, certain basic amenities such as piped water, roads and electricity are provided, thus transforming rural areas into urban areas.
